That PM was from Julie C, Informing me that she had sadly lost her beautiful 17 year old daughter Hazel that morning.
Hazel had sadly been taken from us by a horrible condition known as SUDEP (Sudden unexplained Death in Epilepsy)
On reading that message that day, I immediately broke down in tears, It had a huge affect on us personally (as I know it did many others) as our own little boy Lew, had only two months before, had an Epilepsy diagnosis himself, So, I suppose it really hit home that day just what a horrible, misunderstood and dangerous condition Epilepsy is and how lucky we are that he is still with us.
We never met Hazel But she has touched our hearts in so many ways.
Nobody should have to go through losing someone close to them like that, Least of all your Child.
And yet, Through all this, Julie has gone on to be the strongest, bravest woman I know and continued to help others in learning to cope with Epilepsy, as she did us back then (and continues to do so).
You don't meet people like that every day.
Julie you are one in a million and I just wanted you to know that you are not going through this painful anniversary alone, We remember too and we all care more than you will know and are all here for you.
Thinking of you all Julie, Jon, Kim, Zack & Jake at this terrible time.
With so much love always to you all from Louise, Rod, Lee, Daniel & Lewis and everybody here at The Lazy Lounge.
May Hazel Rest In Peace and her memory live on always. |
